BA Fine Art: Painting, Wimbledon College of Arts 2016
Kemi's work mainly deals with the the home and themes of domesticity in general. She considers the people that populate her paintings as players on a stage which she is constructing from found photographs, film stills, direct observations and memory, creating heightened yet familiar domestic scenes.
Open to using a wide variety of mediums, Kemi will select her method depending on the mood and setting of the scene. She finds oil paint an expressive and dynamic medium and so will use this to create bold and striking imagery, where detail is not as much of a concern. Acrylic takes favour when painting interiors which require a steady hand and attention to detail.
