"This piece is influenced by traditional Madeira Island embroidery and the memory of my grandmother. Her job, like many older uneducated women around the island, was to embroider for big specialized companies who would pay their workers poorly and then sell their high-quality pieces for a huge profit.

This collection is a tribute to all the women that never had opportunities or choices and it’s a storytelling of my childhood and culture that, like many others, still finds it tough to acknowledge the value and rights of women and the challenge of being one."
