"This is painting of a Ukrainian nationalist activist dressed in Ukrainian national headdress and embroidered costume which again became popular again since the 2014 Ukrainian Revolution. It is based on a collage of photographs, most of them inverted into the negative with the exception of the activist's face. In visual language of my paintings, imagery of photographic inversions signify the common practice of subverting facts or truth to create new spectacles of reality often used by global news media conglomerates. In the end, the humans that consume media narratives end up living in mental environments that may be fantastical, invigorating or exciting yet do not reflect objective states of the world."
