Digital image sublimation printed onto polyester, brass eyeletsOriginal100 x 100cm
"These prints on fabric are of images created during my exploration of photogrammetry technology as a means of 3D-scanning a series of my abstract, process-led sculptures in order to explore how these tactile masses may be transformed into the digital realm. I printed the images I created on silky fabric to reintroduce a sense of fluidity to the works. These prints depict the ‘skin’ files which contain the visual data for the ‘skin’ of each three-dimensional object for it to be reconstructed/re-mapped by software on a two-dimensional monitor. I was particularly drawn to these ‘skin’ files, which incorporate digital glitches and the ‘frozen gestures’ used to create each sculpture, resulting in a juxtaposition of materiality and machine."
