About Made in Arts London

About Made in Arts London

Who we are.

Instigated by the efforts of ex-students Kate Rintoul and Robyn Minogue in 2011, Made in Arts London (MiAL) is a non-profit initiative devoted to nurturing young talent throughout the early stages of their career. Run by the Students' Union at University of the Arts London (UAL), the organization aims to support art and design students by putting values into practice.

With UAL playing an instrumental role in the development of the UK’s creative industry, MiAL provides a physical and digital platform that empowers students by showcasing and selling their work – a natural extension of the university.

Connecting young artists and fostering a collaborative way of working results in unique art pieces and therefore a go-to destination for tomorrow’s talents to inspire and be inspired.

Due to the volume of new creative talent, as well as an oversaturated marketplace, MiAL puts an emphasis on the shift of physical objects into a digital sphere and pushes opportunities for their students to experience, and prepare for, the real-world work environment.

Everything we sell is designed and created exclusively by our current students or recent graduates and we support our artists in their personal and professional development to sustain their creative practice and to break into the art and design market.

Made in Arts London supports our artists professionally and financially in a time where fees are rising and cost of living is increasing, but also pastoral support in the form of free workshops, networking activities and invaluable opportunities to promote their emerging practice.

What others have said

“The role played by Made in Arts London is a vital one – helping to equip students for life outside academia through its programme of workshops, exhibitions and fairs; establishing those networks with peers and the art appreciating public which are a lifeline for those newly embarking on their artistic career.”

Murray Macaulay

“The MiAL exhibition at AAF was well curated and gave a ‘breath of fresh air’ for visitors, helping them see what’s happening in art schools right now, and giving them the opportunity to invest and support emerging talent. The artists involved were also great, high quality and interesting.”
